Traditional concertinist, Sean O’Dwyer, hails from the Beara peninsula in West Cork. He belongs to a renowned family of traditional musicians: son of the late concertinist Ella Mae, brother of renowned accordionist Riobard and Maura (concertina), and first cousin to the famous Dwyer composers and players - the late Michael (tin whistle), John (fiddle), Finbar (accordion) and Richie (accordion, fiddle and vocals).
All-Britain champion in 1970 for concertina and lilting, some of Sean’s recordings are to be found in Ladies on the Flatboat, Irish Traditional Concertina Styles, RTE’s Bring Down the Lamp, and the 1981 score for the film The Forgotten Irish. His first concertina CD "Irish Trad Concertina from Beara" was launched in 2010, and he appears among a wide range of international old-style players in Dan Worrall's highly acclaimed 2012 CD entitled "House Dance.
