In 2005, Nuala was awarded a Cork 2005/Credit Union Residency to work with the older generation on Cape Clear Island. A book, 'Bóithrín na Smaointe', a miscellany of Cape Clear memories, was published as a result of that collaboration.

Nuala enjoys gathering oral stories with groups and worked throughout the summer of 2006 with children in the Ballingeary/Gougane Barra area of West Cork, whilst performing in 'The Tailor and Ansty', a play adapted from the well-loved book by Eric Cross, near where the old couple are buried in Gougane Barra.
